Our Island is famous for being the first kingdom in Maldives and most of our locals uses the word "king" in their usernames on social media for this reason. Apart from this, our island has 5 famous historical places  .One is “Athiri Ziyarai” second is ‘’Egamu Ziyarai” Thirdly ‘’Magaan Fulhu” Fourthly “Hiriga Valhu” and Fifthly ‘’Bodu Valhu”.

Our island was first ruled by a king named Koimalaa. They started to build their palace in Rasgetheemu but the next day a group of birds came and started flying around the island and the king thought that those birds are showing him the way to go. They followed the birds, and ended up in Male’ (the capital city of Maldives) and that is when they started a kingdom in Male’. Those two Ziyarai is Known as that two people is VALEEVERING they travel to this island using a ‘’KALHU HILA DHAI’’. Boduvalhu was made by ‘’REDHIN” it was very huge and deep. Some old people say that a well was connected to the Kaashidhoo Kandu but now people are joking about this story.

Details of a famous person from the island.

Mr. Andhiri Eesa was very famous person in this island , he was famous for ‘’Raivaru” (a type of song/poem) He made lot of Raivaru. The special thing was he was a blind man and he described the future of our living life in his Raivaru. He has described about the mobile phone, in his Raivaru ‘People will know the news in any place in the world on the spot” and also he has described about the shoes ’’Kaalhu will wear Maravalhi” it means anyone can wear it. The Maldives famous magazine call “FAITHOORA”  has published some of his Raivaru like ‘’Dhajaalu’.
