M. Dhiggaru has long been known for its creation of Rihakuru. Rihaakuru is a thick delicious fish sauce made from fish. After cooking of fish in water and salt, the ‘fish-soup’ (Garudhiya) is continued to cook for a long period of time.

Dhiggaru has long been known for its creation of Rihakuru. Rihaakuru is a thick delicious fish sauce made from fish. After cooking of fish in water and salt, the ‘fish-soup’ (Garudhiya) is continued to cook for a long period of time. Then taken back to house and handed over to ladies to thicken up the sauce. The work is being carried out in Dhiggaru with great care for a long time. The main reason for the change in the colour and taste of Dhiggaru rihakuru is the hard work of the ladies of Dhiggaru.

Abdul Rasheed Hussain

He was awarded the Title “Nishan Izzuddin”. He served as the Minister during former President Maumoon's tenure. Poets' Day was held in Dhiggaru in 2019 for Abdul Rasheed Hussain. He is a star in Maldivian poetry.
