Maamendhoo

Maamendhoo harbor has benefited many vessels. Maamendhoo has been fishing for a long time. At the time, people fish on the motorized boat. Back then, there were no harbors built in the island. Due to the changes that have taken place in the past, changes have also been brought to the fishing vessels. In this regard, fibre vessels were replaced by motorized vessels. This was a step forward in the fisheries sector of Maamendhoo. Fibre vessels are currently being used entirely in the island. The fisheries sector generates a good income for the island. Most of those who do not have work on the island have the opportunity to fish. Around 10 fishing vessels are operating in the island, while 15-20 people are working on each vessel.

Mr. Ismail Zahid/ Binbimaage is one of the most famous persons in the island. He is famous in fiber boat building. The first and the foremost Fiber Boat built in the island was his creative work. He started his work at a very young age. He also achieved (އެންމެ ޅަ މަސައްކަތްތެރިޔާ) award from the former president, Maumoon Abdul Gayyom. He also brought up so many young people from the island to this work and now many of them are engaged in the work. He is also one of the famous business men in the island as he owns a shop and do many other works which will benefit the island and the people of the island.
