Dharavandhoo is an important island in Dhivehi literature and poetry. The Hussain Edhurukaleyfaanu family of Dharavandhoo produced the most well-known poets and linguists. This island is bordered by pristine seas known as Dharavandhoo Thila and Hanifaru Bay, which are well-known among divers worldwide for being a haven for a variety of marine species such as manta rays and whale sharks. This internationally recognized eco-life zone is now legally protected.
